PHYSICIAN OF THE YEAR AWARD
The Physician of the Year Award is presented to an outstanding front line practitioner who practices in the Edmonton Zone or has recently retired from active practice. In particular, the physician will be recognized for:
Excellence in clinical care, combining the art and science of medicine;
Teaching;
Service to the profession or the community
Exemplifies creativity and leadership in taking action to improve and promote health
Researcher of the Year Award
The Researcher of the Year Award is to acknowledge physicians whose research has significantly affected clinical practice in their area, and who may not be widely recognized in our region. The award is available to one or more primary researchers and/or authors of the same project(s).
Nominations should include the following information:
CV or list of research published or submitted for publication to a recognized journal;
A letter which briefly outlines the significance of the work and it’s contribution to the clinical practice.
Physician Innovator of the Year
This award will be presented to the physician who in their practice of medicine:
Adopts and implements new concepts, research, or technology to improve previous practices of medicine.
Is a pioneer in their field.
Changes how medicine is practiced.
Injects creativity and/or fun into the process of their work to come up with better ideas and ways of doing things.
Innovators can be involved in any area of the practice of medicine, including but not limited to:
Clinical practice
Research
Teaching
Administration
Life Achievement Award - Medal of Service
The Life Achievement Award is presented to an outstanding front line retired or close to retiring practitioner who practiced in the Edmonton Zone. In particular, the physician will be recognized for:
Excellence in clinical care, combining the art and science of medicine; helping to raise the standards of medical practice;
Teaching
Service to the profession or the community
Long-term improvement within the healthcare
Has brought about change that has the potential to result in a positive environment.
Please submit a CV or list of recognized acknowledgements.
A letter which outlines the significance of the work and its contribution to the clinical practice. More endorsements encouraged.
To qualify the recipient must have made contributions in at least two of the above fields.
Champion for Young Leaders Award
Champion for Young Leader Award is to acknowledge physicians whose are outstanding as an early career, five years post-residency. A member who has demonstrated exemplary dedication, commitment and leadership in one for the following:
Educational
Clinical
Community service and/or research
Relative to these domains, nominees should have:
Exemplified creativity, initiative and are committed to “making a difference”
Been effective at the local, provincial level
Nominations should include the following information:
CV or list of recognized acknowledgements
A letter which outlines the efforts of young physician leaders of tomorrow for their efforts today. More endorsements encouraged
To qualify the recipient must have made contributions in at least two of the above fields.
