Zone medical Administrative Committee (ZMAC)
The purpose of the ZMAC is to consider, advise, and report to the Zone Medical Director and the Provincial Practitioner Executive Committee on matters pertinent to quality and safe patient care at a Zone level and to promote interdisciplinary teamwork. These matters include but are not limited to:
Quality and safe Patient care
Zone-level service planning and delivery
Zone input into Practitioner workforce planning
Interdisciplinary Patient care; and
Zone-level interaction with respect to the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules
The composition, duties and responsibilities of the Zone Medical Administrative Committee are determined in the Medical Staff Rules Section 2.14.
Provincial Practitioner Executive Committee (PPEC)
The purpose of the PPEC is to advise AHS and the Chief Medical Officer on provincial/system-wide matters pertinent to quality and safe patient care as well as issues including but not limited to:
Practitioner workforce planning;
The development and oversight of the Medical Staff Rules and AHS-wide policies pertinent to the Medical Staff;
Discharging responsibilities essential to maintaining appropriate accreditation of AHS; and
Performing all other duties assigned to it by the Bylaws and the Medical Staff Rules.
The composition, duties and responsibilities of the Provincial Practitioner Executive Committee are determined in the Medical Staff Rules Section 2.9.
Zone Application Review Committee (ZARC)
The purpose of the ZARC is to review all initial Applications to the Medical Staff and prepare a written recommendation (to accept, deny, or amend the application) after initial review by a Zone Clinical Department(s); and to review all Requests to Change a Medical Staff Appointment and Clinical Privileges and prepare a written recommendation (to accept, deny, or amend the Request for Change) after initial review by a Zone Clinical Department(s).

The Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules Review Committee reviews and studies in any manner it deems appropriate proposed amendments to the bylaws and rules recommended by itself and the parties specified in sections 1.5 and 1.6 of the bylaws, confers with the relevant colleges and other parties as appropriate, and makes such recommendations as it deems necessary.
The composition, duties and responsibilities of the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules Review Committee are described in the Medical Staff Rules Section 2.10.
Hearing Committee
The purpose of the Hearing Committee is to consider a Concern referred to it in respect to an Affected Practitioner by receiving information and hearing evidence, and shall make recommendations pursuant to section 6.5 of the Bylaws. A Hearing Committee shall fulfill its duties in a fair and impartial manner.
The composition, duties and responsibilities of the Hearing Committee are determined in the Medical Staff Rules Section 2.11 & 2.12.
SEARCH COMMITTEES
Search Committees shall make recommendations to the AHS medical administrative leader responsible for the appointment of a Practitioner to the position in questions.
