April 24, 2025: Vaccine Resource of Patient Questions and Answers
The following resource is a set of common vaccine questions and answers intended to support physicians with their patients. The EZMSA gathered questions from our members. We asked physicians to send us the questions they receive from patients about vaccines. Our panel of eight physicians reviewed the questions and have put together a collection of sources for physicians to answer their patients.
View the vaccine resource here.

February 20, 2025: Speaker-Understanding the Short-and Long-Term Impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on People Who Use Substances in Edmonton’s Inner City: Findings of the 2023 ICHWP Cross Sectional Survey
This presentation is an overview of the 2023 survey of people who use drugs in Edmonton's inner city. As the largest survey of its kind in Edmonton's history, we'll provide an overview of this cross-sectional survey, the primary aim of which has been to:
Describe the current health and social service utilization and needs of people who use drugs in Edmonton's inner city.
Examine why existing services may not be meeting current needs
Measure the acceptability of new and emerging services and policies; and
Investigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Edmonton's inner city population who use substances.
February 10, 2025: Statement-Dismissal of the Alberta Health Services CEO and Procurement Investigations
We recognize the Auditor General has begun an investigation on this matter and will look for the publicly shared findings. To protect the system resources and ensure they serve the most need, a transparent public enquiry into these allegations is essential. We call for ethical and transparent procurement processes in the health system that safeguard public money.
January 29, 2025: Statement for the Alberta COVID-19 Pandemic Data Review Task Force Report
The EZMSA echoes the Alberta Medical Association and Canadian Medical Association statements to reiterate the Task Force report is anti-science and anti-evidence.
We focus our comments specifically on the vaccine recommendations in the report:
COVID-19 is the fourth leading cause of death for Albertans
The risk of the virus infection is currently higher than the vaccine adverse events
Vaccines are our best protection for COVID-19
Our recommendation:
The Government of Alberta follow the Canada Immunization Guide as a comprehensive resource on immunization, and discard Task Force report recommendations. These guidelines are updated for changing circumstances and developed from the recommendations of the Public Health Agency of Canada and expert advisory committees.
The guide recommends all individuals age six months and over may receive an updated vaccine dose, and this is particularly recommended for individuals identified as being at higher risk, some of whom are also recommended for additional doses.
