PLC MEDICAL STAFF ASSOCIATION AWARDS

The PLC Medical Staff Celebration of Excellence was on Friday, May 8 at Hotel Arts. Those who attended enjoyed an open bar, a buffet dinner, a photo booth and door prizes!

The PLC MSA awards were presented to the winners listed below. Congratulations to the winners!

The recipients of the 2025 awards are: 

Physician of Merit

Physician of Merit Award

  • This award shall be given to members who have made significant contributions to the Medical Staff Association, the Peter Lougheed Centre Hospital, the profession and/or the community over the previous five to ten years.

  • A maximum of three (3) awards will be given each year.

Nomination Criteria:

  • Nominations may be made by any PLC physician, including residents who served at PLC in the 12 months leading up to the award submission deadline.

  • Nominee must be a PLC MSA member at the time of nomination.

    • If nominee is not a member when nomination is submitted, they will be notified and provided an opportunity to join the PLC MSA. If they do not join by the nomination deadline, the nomination will be disqualified.

  • A description of how the nominee has met the award criteria (500 words or less).

  • Optional: Nominee’s curriculum vitae. If possible, please provide an abridged version relevant to the nomination.

 Clinical Teaching Award

  • This award is given to an individual who has displayed excellence in clinical teaching with residents and/or medical students.

  • This individual would have provided exemplary service in this area and their primary site of service is the PLC.

  • A maximum of two (2) awards will be given each year.

  • Nominations may be made by any PLC physician, including residents who served at PLC in the 12 months leading up to the award submission deadline.

  • Nominee must be a PLC MSA member at the time of nomination.

    • If nominee is not a member when nomination is submitted, they will be notified and provided an opportunity to join the PLC MSA. If they do not join by the nomination deadline, the nomination will be disqualified.

PLC Resident of the Year Award

  • This award is given to a resident showing exceptional patient care, leadership and ability to work with others.

  • In particular, a resident who has had a positive influence on their training program and patient care at the Peter Lougheed Centre (PLC).

  • Nominations to be made by any PLC Site Leader.

  • One award will be given each year.

Nomination Criteria:

  • Nominations may be made by any PLC Site Leader.

  • A description of how the nominee has met the award criteria (500 words or less).

  • Optional: Nominee’s curriculum vitae. If possible, please provide an abridged version relevant to the nomination.
