June 8, Executive Meeting (WebEx)

Attendees:
Dr. SA (André)  van Zyl, President
Dr. Alayne Farries, President-Elect
Dr. Kevin Hay, Past-President
Regrets:
Dr. Steve Tilley, Treasurer

Special guest, Dr. Gustavo Nogareda, presented data to support reasons and possibilities around an ECHO lab and a Cath lab in Red Deer.  His presentation illustrated that this would not just be cost saving to the system but also significantly and positively impact patient safety and care.

CZMSA advocacy is to the benefit of our members in the Central Zone.  Currently the Central Zone Medical Staff Association executives are pursing three advocacy priorities:

  • a Cath/Echo lab in Red Deer
  • improving communication (includes the cellphone services in the Red Deer Regional Hospital)
  • increasing operative capacity in the Central Zone

 D. SA van Zyl will not be available to serve the Past-President position in 2017.  Article 8.3 of the Bylaws provide for the executive to appoint a member to the position.

It was decided that the Zone Advisory Forum to be held in October 5, 2016 will be held in Drumheller in order to better understand the needs and concerns of members in the southern part of the Central Zone.

2017 membership dues rate will not change from 2016 level.

Next meeting is July 14, 2016

May 10, Zone Advisory Forum (Olds Hospital and Care Centre, Boardroom 1023, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.)

ZAFs are a venue for stakeholders to confer on issues in the zone so that the Central Zone Medical Staff Association can advocate appropriately for solutions that improve health care in the zone.  More information about ZAFs can be found here
