Notice of CLS MSA Dissolution Effective October 1, 2026
The Calgary-region Laboratory Scientist and Medical Staff Association will be dissolved, effective October 1, 2026.
This decision follows careful consideration of the CLS MSA’s future viability. Over time, membership and participation have declined, while physicians have access to well-established site-specific Medical Staff Associations that provide local representation, engagement opportunities, and advocacy at their primary practice locations.
Given these changes, it has been determined that maintaining a separate CLS MSA is no longer necessary.
We would like to sincerely thank all members who have contributed to the CLS MSA over the years. Your participation, leadership, and commitment have been greatly appreciated and have helped support collaboration and engagement.
We encourage members to remain involved through their site-specific MSA and to continue contributing to physician leadership and advocacy within their local communities.

The CLS MSA represents laboratory physicians and scientific staff (both MD and PhD clinical laboratorians) within the Calgary Zone/Calgary Lab Services. Our primary focus is to involve laboratory medical and scientific staff in the ongoing regional and provincial conversations about health care improvement, patient safety and resource allocation. We strive to educate the larger medical community about laboratory function, available resources and organizational structure. We also aim to highlight the world-leading progress of laboratory medicine in Calgary, with a focus on new and advanced diagnostic techniques.
Mission Statement:
To educate health professionals about patient laboratory testing resources and improve responsible utilization.
